Dr. Mary Edwards Walker’s image, first female surgeon in the USA, was worn proudly by a Duke Hospital surgeon. Monteze proudly wears Quaker shero, Lucretia Mott. Missy ordered images of her grandmother and grandfather for her mother. Pam wears her mother close to her heart. Rosie ordered a necklace for a daughter in law of her mother. Hollie Taylor celebrates feminist icons from the past and present in her work. Here she is featuring Frida Kahlo as a fearless young woman based on a photo taken by her father, Guillermo Kahlo. This work has layers of watercolor, collage elements, photo altered and transferred to the art, maps which lead to wandering lines across the geography of the picture plane.
